You can always get a manual in English from Pentax USA - it's $4.00

I've purchased new pentax gear from out of the US and received an
international warranty card.  Perhaps this camera is a "class 2" unit,
which may be the term for a refurbished demo or warranty item.  Maybe
it's not really new.

Remember, you usually get what you pay for, and the thriftiest man
always pays the most.
