i don't think you've got quite the right terminology; while some may be literally license free, there are also many photos _with_ licenses whose terms are very flexible for re-use; you can even search based on specific Creative Commons licenses on Flickr, for example
i cannot think what "open source" artwork would be, unless it was generated by open-source software (and in the software world, open-source is very rarely license-free)
