Built of translucent plexiglass and using diffused light instead of reflected.
There are some trade-offs, but this is easier ingress and egress with the goods
to be shot.

I have a cut-out from a foam-core board that serves to fill shadows
on deep objects and diminish external reflections on very shiny ones.

And a couple of foam-core wedges serve as gobo units to also diminish
the bright spots from the lights on very shiny objects.
The back edge does not worry me much as it is easily cut out. These images
will never be used with a shadow at the base, so it all gets cut out anyway.
(I have another piece that can be flexed into place vertically
should that corner ever become an issue on certain items.)

And not very expensive to build, either. Steel table, six 24-inch florescent
2-tube units with 5000K lamps, (plexiglass in use) three 24x48 sheets and two
24x24 sheets. Plus several foam-core boards (from WalMart) for covering the
back corners, between the lights, and for the front mask and top light seal.
Probably about $500 in all. Can't buy one for that.

Sincerely,

Collin Brendemuehl
