This describes me, and I asked the Internet which one to get. The
Internet said “Don’t get a new Mac right now, wait a couple months.”

they always say that ...
i _would_ be running LR4 on an "early 2011" MBP (quad-i7, 2.3GHz) with 16 GB
RAM, but no SSD; i would except i am still waiting for Adobe's fulfillment of
my free upgrade, for which i submitted on 6 March ...
the machine is great though; it has a good GPU with 1 GB VRAM; not sure if LR4
can use the GPU yet, but Aperture sure does — it is a night & day comparison to
my previous 13" MBP (2.53GHz Core2Duo, integrated graphics, 8GB, no SSD); it's
now a breeze to work through a large set of photos on the attached 24" display;
and with the 1680x1050 display i no longer feel cramped when without a 2nd monitor
i got a bargain price on the machine at a weird Microcenter sleeper closeout,
which gave me a new computer for significantly less than Apple's refurb price;
i added the 16GB RAM, but an SSD can wait; i had been planning to get a refurb
27" iMac, which would outperform this MBP, but not by a huge amount; and once i
got the MBP i realized more clearly how a split laptop/desktop workflow
wouldn't have suited me (i still have a server for iTunes, document scanning
and archives)
i bought in January, and i knew ivy bridge/thinner/even higher-res display
machines were rumored, but i'm very happy with my choice
