We had a home built drop table at school, It was fine. Construction must be very careful though, to keep the table aligned at the various heights. I am thinking that for my next darkroom, I am going to have drop tables made by a local welding shop. I have already discarded the baseboard that my 6x9 enlarger came with, in favour of a raised mount, and my 4x5 enlarger came as a wall mount anyway.
