The pentax hot shoe extension cord that I picked up when I bought my
AF540 was very expensive, and didn't work so well. A while later, I
bought a cheap third party one off some website, and it seems to work
pretty well, but it only has a convenient reach of about 6 feet before
the pull on the coiled cable gets to be a problem.
Does anyone have any wireless hot shoe extension cables that they'd like
to recommend?
I don't think anyone makes a wireless that will have the full
functionality of the 5p cord.
If you need PTTL, your best bet is to go into every camera store you
come across and look in their junk boxes to see if they've got any old
unsold F5p(L) cords.
Also grab any Hotshoe Adapter F and/or any Off Camera Adapter F you
find. You can actually do double duty with the Off Camera Adapter F
(although the 5p cord can plug directly into the AF540).
I prefer the Hotshoe Adapter F, because it has a hot-shoe built into the
top of it with PTTL pass through.
