Actually 3 photos :) We don't really commemorate Armistice Day (Remembrance Day) here. Our remembrance festivities centre on ANZAC Day which is held on April 25th.
Regardless of that, I went for a run up to the 19th Battalion War Memorial up in Victoria Park. I timed it so I'd arrive at the 11th hour, but ended up a couple of minutes late because I had turned back to get my hat that I'd only remembered when I was halfway down my street. Please excuse the cellphone pics but I like to keep the weight down when running. http://www.multi.net.nz/19th/ The park area around the memorial contains several stands of trees which come from the different parts of the world where the battalion fought. Each stand contains 19 trees. It's a very nice place with good views across the plains to the Southern Alps. Here's a link with some more information & photos. http://www.nzhistory.net.nz/media/photo/19th-battalion-war-memorial-cashmere It's very windy today and I had an ANZAC poppy pinned to my shirt. Somewhere on my way home it was blown off its pin :( Cheers, Dave -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
