I would think most photographers use more than one lens on any given job.
I know I do. And I certainly wouldn't want to change bodies when I have to
change lenses. Aside from the inconvenience of swapping out cameras,
there's the mind numbing problem of a whole different set of controls.
I shudder to think of it.
The differing controls/interface isn't as big a deal as you would
expect. I deal with it when I'm shooting with both my K5 and my A850
and it's not much trouble. I generally keep the A850 in one
configuration and change the K5 when conditions require it but it's
not a huge problem if I ever decide to change something on the Sony.
I have trouble switching between the K20D and the K100D! If I was going
to do the pro thing, I'd be sure and have identical bodies for backups.
I just have no aptitude for memorizing mechanical motions. I've never
been able to learn to play any musical instrument, and it took more than
twenty years before I could shift smoothly from 1st to 2nd gear. I
still fumble around with the controls on the K20D after 2 years plus of
using it exclusively. I suppose if I put in 8-hour days with it for
weeks on end I'd eventually solve that problem.
