I agree with most of what you've said here -- to the point that I'd say almost all 35mm Pentax SLRs are the most under-rated. IMO, the only one not underrated is the K1000. It's overrated. And because it's so ubiquitous, (it seems to me) there's a very common misperception out there that K1000=Pentax and when a person has outgrown a K1000 then that person needs to switch brands, because Pentax has nothing else to offer. Many people with whom I've chatted about gear -- all being familiar with the Pentax name in the person of the K1000 -- were surprised to see my SuperProgram or PZ-1 or LX.
