Ann, you have not one but (3) golds - congrats. The K-1000 was pure gold - 99.99 % fine. I remember buying mine from one of the then New York's biggest camera store Oldens for $ 247 in early 1978. It was the SE (or SI) model (split image with micro prism collar), all metal mostly, and definitely not made in China. It was the best camera I ever owned. I even bought an M 28 mm 2.8 lens for it. apart from the std 50 mm f2 kit lens. Enjoy.
