No averaging, the spot metering if anything gave a worse result.

Notes: My major peeve about the K20D is it's tendency to
seriously underexpose when photographing almost anything
against a bright background.  In this case I dialed in
1 1/3 stops of extra exposure and I still had to really push
to get any detail at all in the bird it's nest and the field
lights.

As usual comments are welcome but may be totally ignored.
