How do you decide what makes the grade in the case of the PDML Annual?

This is what I did this time:

1. I passed over all images from this year that were not family album and/or Galia's school project and were rated with one star in LR.

2. I passed over few more folders for more images.

3. During two first steps I marked candidates with the keyword. Then I stopped.

4. A week (or was it two weeks, I cannot say for sure) later I returned to only those shots that I picked up previously. I thought a little and decided on a theme or common emotion/motif/reason that might connect three photographs together. It did not have to be obvious, but the connection did exist in my warped mind. Thence I chose the three shots and after a bit more of deliberation produced the files as per Mark's instructions and up the wire they went.

I cannot put down in words my criteria for choosing, sorry about that.
