Well, I for one have long waited for the slow quality zoom. Considering
that Pentax medium format No. 1 usage is landscapes, slow zoom lenses makes
sense. Medium formats biggest disadvantages are size ad weight. Since a
zoom lens can replace several primes making them small and light is great.
Todays heavy zooms cannot really replace primes since there's no weight
advantages to be had. I mean, a complete Limited lens set weights less than
the FA* 28-70/2.8 and the FA645 80-160 weights more than a kilo.
Also, making the lens slow should make great optical quality possible. It
should also make the price affordable.
