Hi Albano and Alin,
thanks to both of you for suggestions.

   I like Lowepro's S&F system quite a lot (although it's expensive, I
was able to buy few bigger pieces at "sale-out" //is that the right
word?// bargain prices, I am considering getting such a small case
into which a camera (LX) with short lens attached will fit (I don't
like the Vee shaped bags, they just shout "Steal me!".

But what about the rest of the stuff, the f***ng heavy photo gear
which I have to struggle with all the time and which bogs me down
slowing me way behind fellow hikers ;-) (BTW, that's why I prefer
going alone, because for landscapes I like contemplative approach,
sometimes waiting long time for right light or taking my time to
"feel" the landscape. The sportish friends call it "laziness" <G>
//until they see the photgraphs of course <G>// ). I have thought
of getting some smaller trunkcase or making one, what do you think?

Albano, wrt Caselogic case - I carried camera in a small cd-player
Caselogic case too! Exactly for your reasons :)
I managed to squeeze there a K2DMD (smaller LX will fit better)
plus 1.4/50 lens... but it was not ideal... OTOH you should have seen
some of my improvised cases :) The caselogic was way better <g>.

Good light,
   Frantisek Vlcek
