unlike most of you gentlemen, I worked on Soviet clones of IBM PS XT (ES

inserted my diskette the wrong way into the drive...

When I started co-oping with IBM, the original IBM PC had been out a few months. That was the "PC A", Model 5150-001. 16KB of RAM soldered onto the motherboard, expandable to about 512KB with the expansion options then available, single or dual 160KB/320KB 5.25" floppy drives. I was with them until just before the PS/2 line came out, so I got the see the "PC B" (64KB on the MB, expandable to 640KB, single or dual 180KB/360KB floppies), the PC XT, the Portable PC (orange plasma "luggable"), the PCjr, the PC AT, the PC/3270, and the PC/370 as they came out. Networks on 10BASE5 and 10BASE2 and some proprietary ones like IBM PC Cluster Adapter and ArcNet. Servers running Novell NetWare, various flavors of Unix, IBM/MS networking stacks later, plus a little SNA/LU6.2 stuff. I'm really glad most of that crap is gone. :-)
