Hi Shel: Yes, I did it many years ago with a fleet of trucks owned by a neighbour of mine. He had about five he wanted a picture of, and the only time we could get them all together was at 4:00 pm on a Sunday afternoon in December (in England!). At that time, one is using available dark rather than available light!
I set it up with the trucks arranged in a crescent, to maintain the same distance from the camera for each one. At each end, and concealed or out of the field of view, we positioned all the available cars with their headlights shining underneath the trucks, to separate the background. I set the camera on a tripod, stopped down to f22, and and used the B setting with a locking cable release. I had time to walk around and model each truck individually with a small flashgun, standing off to one side to avoid my body being between the camera and the truck being lit, but shielding the flash from the camera at the same time. It worked well, and although I took half-a-dozen frames at different settings, the first one was the best. If you are thinking of smaller subjects, I have used a flashlight with reasonable success, but getting the right exposure was devilish difficult!
