Well, all I did was point the camera at the sky and go 'click'!. 

(and force myself to get out of bed early...)

Nature did the rest.

All sunrises are different - I suppose that's what makes them such
popular subjects.  I like the golden tones in your Simcoe Day Sunrise
and especially the reflected light (and seabirds) in the foreground.  It
almost looks like a sunset.

Like Dan, I'm curious about "Simcoe Day".
