Hi Jon, I'll second Rob Gillespie's suggestion of the following link: http://www.pacsci.org/public/education/gallery/high_speed_photos/text.html It's a very informative site, and it describes how to build a variety of triggers yourself, using simple and easily obtained electronic components. I'd think that putting the target and camera inside a large darkened box, with flash outside the box, would be the best way to do this. Alternatively, a darkened room would work well. You could slam the bullet into two closely spaced pieces of metal. Bullet impact would force the two pieces of metal into contact, which could be used as a "switch" to short the PC terminal conductors of a small flash (AF280T, Vivitar 283, Sunpak 383 or the like). You'd probably want to set the flash to manual at the lowest possible power setting, in order to get the shortest-duration flash. Let us know how this works out. Good luck!
