Hi Debra, If you want a good Pentax flash, look around for an AF280T. It is TTL compatible, but it also has two autoflash ranges, bounce and swivel. I picked one up from KEH for $50 used, they tend to go on eBay for around $75-100. New, the AF280T is about a $160 or so. Another good buy at around the $70 price point is either a Vivitar 283 or a Sunpak 383 Super. These are new prices for the Vivitar and Sunpak units. The 283 has been a pro workhorse flash for years, and the 383 is basically Sunpak's copy of Vivitar's successful flash.
If you do not need the bounce or swivel, the Pentax AF200T is another excellent flash, again TTL compatible but with two auto ranges plus a variable power manual mode. These often sell for about $30-50 and it is a terrific little flash. I own both the 280 and 200 and they work well on the ZX-M. Plus if you ever decide to upgrade to a TTL compatible body, you will not need a new flash. I've used both these flashes on my MX, ZX-M and PZ-1p and they work flawlessly. My favorite on the ZX-M is the AF200T though, mainly for the size of it. Unless you really need bounce capability, this works well on that body. As far as second curtain sync goes, the ZX-M does not support this feature, IIRC. Enjoy!
