About 13 seconds to startup the software (Nikon
software), 23 seconds for a preview, and about 55
seconds for the final scan at a size of 5x7 inches and
200dpi; is slow to me. Granted this is an older
powermac 180 with not enough RAM. There is no batch
scanning, it's one at a time. :P Oh, and I go through
about 3-5 of those film strip holders a year. Yes, I
have used it for b&w as well. It performs well. The
only major gripe that I have (besides how slow it is)
is that I have to apply unsharp mask to just about
everything, even negs that are visibly razor sharp.
I've convinced the paper to buy me a Kodak 3600, the
only reason that I want the Kodak is because it will
batch scan up to 36 frames of 35mm; I'm in heaven just
thinking about how much time that will save me after a
big game or event. *drools* Good luck!
