I asked the guy some basic info:

what happened (he dropped it 3 ft onto a carpet)
are there any cracks (no)
does it rattle (no)
can he dry fire it (yes, sounded 'on time')
when he mounts the prism, does he get a clean fit (yes)
when he turns the camera on with the prism + lens, does he get a readout 
(yes)

I figured the guy didn't know what he was doing, to be honest. I did feel 
1/2% bad - but then I remembers that there is a reverse of caveat emptor!

BTW: Lemon check! I already had a new 67ii that I had bought a few months 
before, so I figured that the reciepts and original boxes (which the '2nd 
hand' unit also came with) would be good for any warranty repair. After all 
- the original WAS paid for in hard cool cash!
