For the most part, you'll probably want to shoot the flowers in their 
environment. But you may also want to tray holding a piece of black mat board 
behind some to eliminate the background.  an 11 x 14 piece would be big enough. 
If the board is white on one side and black on the other, you can use it as a 
reflector as well. That would help in shooting backlit blooms, which can 
sometimes be quite beautiful.
