I now use the Epson 2450 for scanning from 6x7. It seems OK, and good enough for my use at home. I briefly owned the Canoscan FS4000. I happen to prefer the Sprintscan 4000--especially for the price--but the Canon has one distinct advantage for medium format users: I found that a slight modification of the negative holder (plus a little handwaving) allowed me to scan almost all of a 6x7 frame in a few passes, without damaging the film. (The outer few mm could be filled in, if desired, with the Epson.) The combination of the Epson plus the Canon thus gives a sorta-kinda 4000dpi scanner for much less than half the price of the current crop of MF scanners. - This message is from the Pentax-Discuss Mail List.
