So it seems to share the classical characteristics of Carl Zeiss Jena and
older Carl Zeiss lenses - very pleasant near wide open for portraits
and very sharp stopped down for landscapes /etc.

Remember, the Jupiter-9 is direct copy of Zeiss Sonnar for good old Contax RF.

And nowadays, the J9 is quite inexpensive, so don't pay much for it,
especially if you are getting the single coated version. Get the MC
version (usually, black barrel, but not always)
