Hi, And, for that matter, I sing the praises of this list! It's been a great Pentax weekend so far!
First, I got an MV with a 2.0 50mm on eBay for $20US. My first foray into non-M42 pentax. The body is missing the rewind knob, and the vendor says he doesn't know if the body works, because he "has no batteries" (ha!), but hey, I could be lucky. It may work or be easily repairable. And, for that price, I think the lens alone makes it worth it. So, should I pick up a k-mount body, now I'll have something to screw (sorry, click) onto it. As many of you noticed yesterday, the auction was "US only", and since I didn't have time to ask the vendor if he'd ship to Canada, I asked US list members if any of them would consider accepting shipment for me, and re-mail it to me. Turns out the vendor has agreed to send it directly to me, but what a great response for this list! This is really a great community we have here! Thanks again to all who offered to help. I also got an loaner MX with a 40mm pancake yesterday, from a most generous list member who heard me whining last weekend that I'd love to have one - another indication of what a great list this is (the lending part, not my whining). I haven't even put a roll through it yet - guess what I'm doing today - but wow, what a camera! All this talk about a commemorative Spotmatic lately: just re-badge an MX! What can I say? Small, solid, intuitive controls, loads of features I'd love on my Spotties. What else could you want on it? Maybe (just maybe) a top speed of 1/2000, and maybe a few different metering options (spotmetering comes to mind). I haven't even shot with it yet, but I think I'm hooked! Oh yeah, on Friday I bought a 3.5 35 mm Tak that another member is gonna buy at a store local to him, and mail it to me. Geez, almost forgot about that one. It's beautiful and sunny here today (haven't seen the sun in about a week, it seems), so I'm off in a few minutes to go shoot. Gotta bring an extra roll of film - one may not be enough! It's gonna be a fun day. regards, frank -- "The optimist thinks this is the best of all possible worlds. The pessimist fears it is true." -J.
