No, not Ft. Chaffee, Fort Smith National Historic Site. Pictured in my shot
is the barracks from the second fort which became the Federal Courthouse in
the early 1870's. Contains the courtroom of the famed "Hangin Judge" Isaac
Parker, and the jail called "Hell on the Border." Out of the frame of my
shot on the right is the Gallows surrounded by a tall white fence. The first
Fort remains are only large foundation stones on hills overlooking the
river. It was established in 1817. Surprising how much you can learn going
on a photowalk.
