The rest seem to have been covered, so I'll just throw a few cents in on this one... We deal with another lab who have a fancy $150,000 printer that uses a set of LEDs to print up to 30x40 on conventional photographic paper. Their prices are higher than our prices for archival pigment prints. Their sharpness is certainly lower from the samples I've seen, though there tends not to be any noticeable pixellation, which is certainly a good trade-off when dealing with customers who bring too-small files for printing. The colour and contrast ranges both appear more limited, but that could be the result of poor work at the scanning stage. Personally, these prints are not worth the money for me -- they are not as sharp, they won't last as long, they're not as vibrant and they're not as detailed. However, they ARE on actual photographic paper, which some people demand. One of these days I intend to send a file to them for printing to see what they can really do. ;) -Aaron - This message is from the Pentax-Discuss Mail List.
