I have never had this happen with any of the MZ cameras.� On the rare
occasion when the leader doesn't catch, the counter correctly shows this
fact by flashing E.� I think there is an actual electronic monitor that
checks that the holes in the film are passing by.

Getting back to Maciej's MX,� I suspect that it is more than the leader
just coming off the "magic needle" spool.� I don't think this could ever
happen if he has managed to take the first shot on the film, since by
then there is quite a lot of film wound on with the sprockets coming
through the holes.� There may be something wrong with�the winding
mechanism in his camera.� I used to have�an ME-Super that had this
problem, where sometimes when you wound the lever it didn't move the film
winding sprockets.
