I see a lot of photos which are basically "texture". without the three blooms in front, that is what this picture would be. Just the three blooms would also not be as interesting, though they are lovely. The contrast between the soft white blooms and the hard contrasting texture is wonderful. Especially since the texture is not uniform throughout the picture. > > Everybody seems to agree that one that I picked myself is too soft > (and bad overall, with focus not at the main subject, etc.) > Thanks for this feedback - I tried to achieve certain effect with this > shot and obviously failed - good to know :) What is it that you were trying to achieve? Perhaps someone could tell you what you might try differently. Last fall, driving home from a dance event in Seattle, I stopped to shoot some landscape. While there I came across a dead pigeon. While shooting it, I remembered that someone had left a rose in my van (I had given her a ride to the airport, it wasn't a gift for me). I thought that the juxtaposition would be fun, but alas my skills weren't up to my imagination: http://www.flickr.com/photos/ellarsee/sets/72157610185421629/ > > Thanks, > --Sasha > > > On Sun, Mar 22, 2009 at 8:54 PM, <[email protected]> wrote: > > In a message dated 3/21/2009 10:00:17 P.M.
