You're lucky with your cameras then. The last three years of my "pro" career I went through five different camera bodies (two of them "professional" model cameras).
I don't know what kind of abuse you were putting them through. In twenty odd years of using three Nikon bodies, I only had to have service done on one of them ... to fix a problem that I most assuredly caused (smacking it into a railroad tie when I tripped... !). Similar for all my other gear over the years, I've seen very very good service out of all of it.
My gear gets a lot of use and I'm not incredibly careful with it, but I do treat it with respect for its cost and the cost of repairs. And for the inconvenience when I have to be without it.
