On 25/2/09, Ralf R. Radermacher, discombobulated, unleashed:

>Audio is a different affair. Started as a hobby in teenage years, then I
>made the terrible mistake of turning it into a profession and now, 20
>years after leaving broadcast radio, I'm slowly beginning to enjoy
>playing with mics and WAV-recorders and all the new computer stuff that
>wasn't available when we were still fighting with warped analog records
>and open-reel magnetic tape (mind you, German broadcast tape reels don't
>even have flanges, just bobbins - gave ever newly-posted Brit at BFBS
>Cologne the creeps when they had to handle them for the first time). :-)

Nice one.

I have one of these:

modified by Oade Brothers to the ENG 660 spec:

<http://www.oade.com/digital_recorders/hard_disc_recorders/PMD-660MODS.html>

It works very well and I use it for VO and wild track atmos recording.

Years ago when editing film, I was dubbing editor on many programmes and
on complicated dramas would have between 10 and 20 tracks going, with
some specially recorded sounds - loved it.
