That's simply not true. The mainstream distributions are install better, faster and easier than Windows. Chances are, once it's installed most, if not all, of your hardware will work and you'll have quite a few (hundreds) of applications ready to go. > If the process is as interesting as the end result, Linux is the system for > you. Connect it to the internet, check the repositories for the apps you want and have it. These days configuring a Linux machine is light years ahead of Windows. Unless you have to have Photoshop or IIS.
