There's an article about enhancing micro contrast on the web. I can't find the link but a google search of Micro Contrast Photoshop Unsharp Mask or similar will get you a pointer. The gist of it is, that you enhance micro contrast by using these settings in USM, Amount=20%, Radius=50 pixels, threshold=0. Some images respond better to slightly different parameters, but the 20%, 50, 0 gives a good start, and usually a good finish.
