I just have my wife look at them.  She is much more ruthless and not
very sentimental about my photos.  She is a pretty good screener for
me.

This is especially true for weddings, portraits and events.  You
can't let them sit very long or the client will get upset.  So I
usually make a first pass through getting rid of any technically
flawed photo.  Then develop them.  Then make another pass through
removing anything else that strikes me as not worth showing.  Then I
have my wife make a pass through.  After her culling, it is usually
pretty reasonable for the client.
