I had hoped for an under $1000.00 price tag based on a conversation with a rep. I read a rumour that they had to redesign the thing because of the resolution needs of the 14mp sensor, perhaps they had to jack the price along with optical quality. The thing is dangerously close to f/2.8 pricing without the f/2.8 aperture though, which is dissapointing.
