Sony already has brand equity in the pro market as they're the dominant player in lower-end pro video and there's some serious crossover. They also have the only Zeiss AF lenses on the market and they've been clear that any new pro lens from Sony will be a Zeiss lens and only the older or low-end lenses will be Sony branded.
And they've got a lens lineup that's stronger than any of the other smaller players, especially with regards to fast primes, as well as a stronger camera lineup (by this fall they'll have as many DSLR's in their lineup as Pentax and Olympus combined) I expect Sony to rapidly build up to a strong #3 position, close to Canon and Nikon. They'll linger there until they can get the specialty lenses that they somewhat lack (T/S lenses, super-tele's). -Adam On Tue, Jul 1, 2008 at 5:03 PM, <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > I don't think Sony will ever be more than a tier two player in the photo > world.
