That usually means you need one of the screens designed for
astro/microphotography. Screens usually come in both clear ground glass and
clear non-ground glass. The might have either a simple circle in the middle
or some kind of scale. I've owned at least one of the LX ones which was an
SC-21 or SC-11 I think. Microprism screens don't work for focus under those
conditions so you use a screen without one that transmits as much light
through as possible to aid in getting a real focus.

Subject: Clear MX screen

Hello

I guess I am not sure what crosshair means. There might be some
terminology problems also. I need matte screen but with no markings on
the screen.

Look at http://www.bdimitrov.de/kmp/focusing/screens/index.html

This supposedly lists all the Penatx made LX and MX screens. The one I
was looking at was the SE-60 "Plain Matte Field". This is a modern,
brighter LX screen, that someone just advised against using in MXs. Of
course it is possible that someone else made plain or clear screens for
the MX, this site only lists the Pentax made screens.

Can you give me the model number on the clear screen you have?
Can someone please clarify what crosshair means?
I would still appreciate any insight anyone has on screens in MX. What do
you use, how does it work, how it effects lightmeter? etc. thx.
