Different and better in many ways. It spreads the ight more than the lumiquest 80/20 in its most diffuse mode, which is with the cap in place and pointing at the ceiling. And it's capable of more power when shooting through the cap as though it were a softbox than the 80/20 woud be with a soid reflector in place. And it has more modes in that you can also point it at the ceiling with the cap off, which makes it about a 50/50. So far, I like it enough that I've duct taped it to my flash:-). It is easy to knock it off when it's just slipped over the end. (I can still shoot with bare flash just by taking the cap off and aiming the flash straight ahead.)
