A $75 used (and, hell, $300 new) Tamron 28-75 lens negates that  
discussion.  Pretty darned good glass for fractions of what a Pentax  
equivalent would cost.

No - wait - there *is* no Pentax equivalent!

I like the interface and attitude of the Pentax family of cameras, but  
the lens costs are completely out of this world these days.

Unless a person has a bottomless wallet, it is a difficult choice to  
say "I'm going to be 'Pentax or Nothing'" for my gear.
