I end up cropping almost everything by some because I prefer a more square proportion than 2:3 format provides, but I try to do most of the framing in-camera to maximize quality. 3:4 is much closer to what I prefer so I crop less from that. It's one of the reasons that the Panasonic L1 and Olympus cameras are interesting to me. With the L1, I get about the same effective resolution as I get from the K10D after cropping.
