As a old but new Pentaxian (I just recently returned to photography
for the first time since college) I've been waiting for an opportunity to
jump into the discussion here and this is a topic with which I need some
help.
I have recently rebuilt my darkroom for both B&W and Ilfochrome but
am suffering with a cheap enlarging lens. The number of brands for these
things and their various consumer and pro lines are pretty confusing. Can
anyone recommend a line of good, sharp enlarging lenses (new or used) or an
Internet source for comparing them, as exists for camera lenses? The
collective wisdom of the group would be much appreciated. (I know this
isn't specifically a darkroom list but I know from reading the list for
several months now that you all know a lot about it.)
By way of introduction, I live in Denver, Colorado, and have an LX,
ME Super and K1000. (I also have an old but nearly mint TLR CircFlex I
discovered in my parents' basement.) The ME and K1000 are from college and
the LX is a new acquisition. I found almost the entire LX outfit (minus
only one view finder and a few screens) including the winder here in Denver
recently and bought it all! I love it!! I mostly do landscapes and nature
(Colorado being the perfect state for it), a little astrophotography (I live
at 9,000 ft above sea level) and take lots of pictures of my kid.
Thanks for teaching me so much about Pentax and photography in
general in such a short time!

Yes enlarging lenses are coated. Usually they are execellent choice for
macrophotography, especially if you take the 6 or 7 lens versions (Componon
(Schneider) oder Rodagon (Rodenstock).
Mr. Zoerkendoerfer in Munich makes adapters for Macrolenses to pentax mount
and ships world wide.

He also produces tilt adapters for enlarging lenses:
http://www.zoerk.com/pages/p_mfs.htm
This is absolutely unique: It alows the plane of focus to be selected at
random. We are very acustomed to the limitation that the plane of focus is
parallel to the plane of the film, but in macrophotography, with it's
shallow depth of field, this is sometimes annoying! His webpage above is
very instructive and it is really fascinating to use his system!
Just look at the face of the woman on his webpage: The plane of the face is
parrallel to the plane of the film, but by tilting the plane of focus the
upper part of the face gets difuse, because it is in front of the plane of
focus, the lower part of the face is unsharp, because it is behind the
plane of focus: just the eyes are within the plane of focus and thus crisp
sharp, wow!
