Several days ago I purchased an HP Scanjet 5470c. It is apparently one of
their new flatbed models and has a special adapter for slides and negatives
that is different from others that I have seen. When I bought it I asked if
I could return it if it didn't do a good job on the film and was told I could
within 14 days. It is 2400 x 2400, 48 bits. I am amazed by the quality of
the scans. I have printed out some of the slide and negative scans full page
on 8-1/2 x 11 photo paper (on HP Inkjet 722c), and they came out really
great. Actually, it far surpassed my expectations. It cost $299 at
OfficeMax, and I definitely am going to keep it. (It also does a great job
on photos and documents without the adapter.)
