I'd say it's boring, predictable and the writing is generally poor (and 
that goes double for Futurama). For well-written north american 
animation, Family Guy is tops.

But I'm a fairly big animation geek, and am used to the Japanese 
product, which at its best is far better written and plotted than 
anything that comes out here, likely due to the fact that it's also a 
fairly major and well-regarded portion of TV programming in Japan (on 
the other hand, Japanese live TV ranges from the odd to utter crap, with 
little in between).
