Filching with an "I" means stealing, or at least it did when I was 
growing up. Actually, it meant a really, Really, petty theft, e.g. 
"filching apples from ol' man so-and-so's orchard" ... kid's stuff. Sort 
of in the same league with tipping over out-houses and puttin' 
cherry-bombs in mailboxes.

Felching with an "E" has another meaning entirely.
