You can download Photoshop Elements for trial for free - I think its
sharpening will meet your needs.

PSP and CorelPaint's screens and properties are similar to Photoshop's but I
really don't know how to describe the differences.  Corel is probably most
similar.  I think you can download a trial version of PSP, but not Corel.

Sorry this is not much help, but it's really a try-it-and-see matter to pick
the right program.
