Ok lets see starting from the top. Press in on the button to enable
mirror lock up and push the lever in the opposite direction from
DOF and mirror lockup that sets the self timer. Press the shutter release
and it's activated.
The Dial marked from 1/4x to 4x is the exposure adjustment dial
to be used to modify the exposure delivered when the shutter
is set on automatic. It gives +/- 2 stops in 1/3rd stop increments.
It's not really easy to tell how old a Pentax camera is from
the serial number but if there is any rhyme or reason to pentax
serial numbers it's newer than my oldest LX body which is about
15 years old and newer than my newest which is about 5 years old.
