First of all, the thoughts of myself and my family are with our US
neighbours.

I hope those of us on the list who are thrashing away at political
issues will give it a rest. The human tragedy is much more important.
Let's respect that.

Re Aaron's message:

The report is that two international flights have landed in Whitehorse,
Yukon, one of which is being treated as a hijacking. Government
buildings and schools have been closed. Fighters have been circling the
airport for over an hour.

It now seems that the possible hijacking is not that. Latest is that
the aircraft was low on fuel and Alaskan authorities refused landing
permission.

Two others have also landed in our city, Yellowknife, Northwest
Territories. Three more are said to be on the way. The road to our
airport has been closed.

Both Yellowknife and Whitehorse are reporting points on international
air routes.

CBC is reporting on a jet that has apparently been escorted by US and
Canadian fighters to a runway in Whitehorse. All buildings in
Whitehorse have been evacuated.

I'm trying to read the article on cbc.ca, but the site is choked with
traffic.
