You have of course asked a very important question. However the terrorists
boarded those planes, they must have had confidence in advance that they would
be successful. This would seem to point (at this very early juncture) to some
"inside" help, and certainly great planning. One could hardly imagine that
passengers could board planes in Newark, Boston AND Washington, all with
weapons, undetected, with normal search techniques.
One further comment: I don't know who you mean by "the great unwashed", but I
would think of it as a fairly derogatory term. All right-thinking men and
women worldwide are disgusted by today's events, but finger-pointing and
name-calling don't help the situation.
