Some misc. items that come to mind or just crossed my screen this
morning, in no particular order:
1) I have gotten e-mails inquiring about my welfare from people I
haven't heard from in years, ranging from Kiev to California.
2) New York City had a primary election scheduled for today, to choose
candidates for November election to select a new mayor and other City
officials. It was canceled.
3) My wife, who has been a US citizen all of three weeks, announced this
morning that she is ready to be called to serve. (In what capacity I do
not know, but I like the sentiment.)
4) My wife also just heard from a friend, an 85 year-old woman who was
in a downtown hospital for a non critical matter. The woman was thrown
out to make room for casualties.
5) Just got this grim e-mail from my ex-wife:
I was across the street at the World Financial Center
this morning when the thing happened. We were evacuated
down 33 flights. I saw one person jump, and the first
of the towers Collapse. It's a horrible day for the world.
6) Hospitals apparently have a shortage of blood. Time for all Americans
to donate some.
7) This arrived from a military reservist friend:
So easy to kill the defenseless ones. Quite another matter
to challenge those who wield true strength. This is a
crowning horror. A symbol of democracy was destroyed,
taking with it thousands of Americans and foreign
nationals. I do hope I'm reactivated, and given a target
to service. It would be my greatest pleasure to strike back.
