Here is the first of my three assigned images for comment from the
September gallery:
William Robb, "Near Lake Tammian"
I like this image a great deal. This is one of those images that is at
first glance very simple, but the more I look at it, the more complex it
becomes. The more I look at it, the more I want to see, to explore
every nuance; before I realize it, I've been staring at it for 10
minutes!!
The pattern of the leaves and stems is lovely, but even more
spellbinding for me is the pattern of the ribs of the leaves
themselves. Yet another example of the beauty that is found around us,
but requires a sympathetic eye to spot the potential image that is in
there.
I am always fascinated by those who can spot and capture such images in
what for many would be thought of as being something mundane and
commonplace. It shows one of the great powers of photography, in the
right hands (or eye).
I also love shots like this in that it is virtually all of the same
colour - but look at all of the different shades!
By the description (tripod, cable release, mirror lock, low grain film),
it is obvious that great detail was sought, and you succeeded admirably,
Bill.
Thanks for a wonderful image!
regards,
frank
